Thanks for the tip. I remember I tried it in the past but it failed, either because Safari is sometimes not foolproof at resuming broken downloads, or I didn't get the sequence in order.

I've added the '--retry 100' option to my recipe to tell curl to automatically retry the download in case it fails again. I still prefer this method, as it can work without any kind of manual intervention (yours would waste precious time if the download breaks again during the night, which happens frequently here with downloads that last for 16h).

There is a much simpler method. (which I discovered after coming here and fighting with web inspector :)!)

remove partial .dmg from downloads list

from download folder launch dmg.download package which will resume download but complain about authorisation

start a new download from apple developer which will authorise.

cancel new unnecessary duplicate download

Thanks-- we are looking at which options will work best for all users, on all canvasses. These are good suggestions.

There will always be edge cases (someone entering the incorrect email address) such as this, and of course we trust our users to know/use their personal information appropriately.

We will look for ways to be more forgiving when a user makes a mistake like this, and of course, the trick is to try and balance those checks with the best possible experience for the non-edge cases.

So-- briefly, yes, we will work to fix this, and thanks for giving excellent user feedback into the process.
